WEP Encryption Steps

n Integrity Check Value computed

n Checksum of payload (i.e., plaintext) using CRC32

n Select encryption key

n One of four keys selected

n Generate IV

n Use RC4 to generate a keystream RC4(IV,Key)

n Note IV is prepended to key

n Concatenate ICV to payload, then XOR with the

generated keystream to get ciphertext

n Send IV+keynumber+ciphertext over the air

n Key number is the key selected in the second step
